It is inevitable that you will, at some point, experience slight cuts when working with glass. It is mandatory to follow the Health and Safety Rules to ensure it is never more than a minor injury.
No eating while working with the glass. ALWAYS assume glass is sharp. Use the safety equipment provided when cutting or handling sharp glass.
You must wear a mask when working with glass powder and mica.
Wear goggles at all times. Nip glass in the deep tray provided. Sweep up any debris immediately after nipping.
Sweep your board after cutting glass (every time, before making your picture). NEVER wipe your cutting board or table with your hand – ALWAYS use a brush and then wet paper roll. Clean up spills immediately. Clean your workspace at the end of the workshop. Sweep the floor at the end of the day.
The first aid box contains plasters and bandages. Sweep and clean up spillages immediately. If glass gets into your eye – DO NOT RUB IT. Go to the eye hospital at the RVI to have it removed.
If you have any medical conditions, allergies, or physical limitations that may affect your participation in the workshop, please inform us when booking or before the workshop begins.
The Butterfly Tree Glass Studio carries public liability insurance. However, participants are responsible for their own personal belongings and we recommend you have your own personal accident insurance.
Fused glass pieces require firing in a kiln and will be ready for collection approximately 1-2 weeks after your workshop. We will contact you when your piece is ready. Alternatively, we can post your finished work to you for an additional fee (postage costs vary depending on size and destination).
We will store your finished piece for up to 3 months. After this time, uncollected pieces may be donated or disposed of.
We occasionally take photographs during workshops for promotional purposes on our website and social media. If you prefer not to be photographed, please let us know at the start of your workshop.
We love to see photos of your finished pieces! Feel free to share them on social media and tag us @lets_live_anyway on Instagram or The Butterfly Tree Glass Studio on Facebook.
If you have any questions about our policies or need clarification on anything, please don't hesitate to get in touch.
